Promoting Canadian Language Education at APAIE 2019

MALAYSIA, March 25-29, 2019 – From March 25th to the 29th, Diego Sanchez, Languages Canada’s Manager of International Marketing, attended the 14th Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) conference in Kuala Lumpur.

During the conference, Mr. Sanchez delivered a training session to Trade Commissioners from Canadian embassies and consulates from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China. This training session allowed Languages Canada to discuss the outlook of student recruitment, opportunities for partnerships with education institutions, and challenges faced in regards to the changes in biometrics policies in their respective markets.

LC also participated in a matchmaking session organized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. This networking session allowed for higher education institutions to connect with Canadian counterparts in order to foster partnerships, as well as to share market intelligence in order to support LC members with their international marketing efforts in the region.

APAIE presented an opportunity for LC to connect with delegates from Russia, China, Vietnam, and Thailand, to support preparation for LC’s upcoming Trade Missions in Russia and Ukraine in September/October of 2019, Thailand, Vietnam & Southeast Asia in 2020, as well as the French Programs Trade Mission to China in November, 2019.

APAIE’s next annual conference will be held in Vancouver from March 23rd, to 26th, 2020.  Vancouver will also be the host city to Languages Canada’s Annual Conference, in February of 2020 – date, venue and more details to be announced soon.
