Winnipeg, November 19, 2019 – Languages Canada’s Director of Member Services, Linda Auzins, received the Global Women in Education (GLOW ED) “Outstanding Contribution to the International Education Sector” award at CBIE 2019 in Winnipeg.
Recognizing her extensive contribution to the sector in Canada, Cyndi Mcleod, CEO, Canada, Global University Systems, and member of the GLOW ED Board of Directors, said:
"Linda blends the abilities of diplomacy and action; she is communicative and friendly; she is discrete; and she is humble. Linda works quietly behind the scenes while contributing greatly to the work of the association. Her dedication, support and contributions are immensely appreciated by current and past members of the association. Furthermore, she always has the student experience at the top of her agenda. As a co-founder of GLOW ED, I am delighted to recognize her outstanding contribution to the sector."
Languages Canada’s Executive Director, Gonzalo Peralta, echoed Cyndi Mcleod’s comments:
"The fact that this is not Linda’s first award (she received similar recognition from BCCIE a few years ago) speaks to the impact that Linda has had on our sector. As Linda stated in her comments after receiving the award, she likes to work in the background. Nevertheless, she has not only been an integral part of the continuous development of our quality assurance scheme, maintained our finances, and cared for our members and their students - she has elevated the standing of Languages Canada and language education through the recognition she has received."
Speaking to the length and depth of Linda’s work within the sector, Cath D’Amico, President of Languages Canada and Director of Trent International, said:
"GLOW ED truly identified a most-dedicated, long-standing contributor to international education in Linda Auzins. This award celebrates decades of front-line service to language education providers across Canada. Linda has served the language sector in Canada through transition from being separate private/public language associations to the existing integrated association - Languages Canada. Not only does Linda know the members, but she genuinely understands them and their needs, and this comes through each year at our annual conference. As a beneficiary of Linda's knowledge and dedication, I truly congratulate Linda on this award, recognition, and distinction."
The entire Languages Canada team congratulates Linda on receiving this well-deserved award. Her contribution to international education in Canada truly is outstanding; her dedication, dependability and all-around warmheartedness also make her an outstanding colleague!
