VANCOUVER, BC – March 31, 2015 - On March 27, 2015, BEC Rocky Mountains and BEC Montreal closed their doors due to insolvency affecting approximately 57 current and future students between their Canmore, Alberta and Montreal, Quebec locations. The majority of the students had registered for the Canmore location.
Since BEC was a member of Languages Canada, the affected students from both locations are protected under the Education and Completion Assurance Plan (eCAP TM) . The association has been managing the situation to ensure all international students attending the program are looked after and are able to complete their paid studies. Languages Canada is currently in contact with all affected students and their agents where applicable, and will move students to other LC accredited language programs. In addition, LC is assisting agents and incoming students who are starting in April through to the summer by ensuring that outstanding paid tuition is being honoured by other LC accredited programs in the surrounding areas.
Languages Canada Quality Assurance Framework, a vital component of the association, protects international students and upholds Canada's reputation as a quality study destination for language students.
Languages Canada is a not-for-profit association representing more than 225 language education member programs across Canada that offer accredited English and French programs from both the public and private sectors.
