International students can receive COVID-19 vaccines while in Canada

Languages Canada is pleased to confirm that international students in Canada have access to COVID-19 vaccines.

Languages Canada began conversations late last year with federal and provincial governments to request that international students be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine while undertaking studies in Canada, regardless of their province of residence.

Students are encouraged to follow their province's registration procedure and book themselves in to receive the vaccine:

While vaccine rollout plans vary by province and by age group, it is estimated that by the end of June, everyone in Canada over the age of 12 who wishes to get the vaccine will have received at least one dose, with the second dose (if required) to follow later in the summer or fall.

Whether already in Canada or due to arrive in the coming months, students enrolled at Languages Canada member programs will have access to COVID-19 vaccines in Canada, another important step in our sector’s path to recovery and in keeping students and Canadians safe.
