Languages Canada announces the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship will attend its Annual Conference

Languages Canada is pleased to announce that the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship will join us at the upcoming Languages Canada Annual Conference!

"I look forward to attending the Languages Canada Annual Conference to discuss the role that international language students play in addressing our labour force challenges and achieving our goals for a diverse and vibrant Canada. I encourage my fellow parliamentarians to join me for this important conversation with Languages Canada members from across the country," said Minister Fraser

This year’s conference, taking place March 27-30 at the Westin Ottawa Hotel, will offer members a unique opportunity to engage with parliamentarians to discuss the future of Canada’s English and French language education sector.

Minister Fraser will open Day 2 of our conference, on Tuesday, March 29, leading into concurrent roundtable meetings between LC members and members of Parliament from the four regional Liberal caucuses – Western, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic. MPs will also be invited to attend a networking reception that evening.

In addition to Minister Fraser, we are pleased to welcome a number of MPs who have been champions for our sector over the last two challenging years.

George Chahal
MP for Calgary–Skyview, Alberta
“I had the opportunity to speak at a Languages Canada event last January in Banff. The English and French language education sector brings tremendous value to Canada, and has an important contribution to make in addressing our labour force and immigration challenges. I’m excited to meet with LC members again in Ottawa this March to discuss the sector’s future.”

Andy Fillmore
MP for Halifax, Nova Scotia
Language programs are an essential part of our economy and I’m pleased to see the sector come together with government to focus on Canada’s long-term economic prosperity.”
