The MOVA Initiative: Languages Canada Members Extend Support to Those Impacted by War in Ukraine

Languages Canada members, in partnership with the Global Shapers Community of Ottawa, are proud to launch the MOVA Initiative.

Mova is the Ukrainian word for language, and through the Languages Canada MOVA Initiative, Ukrainians making their journey to safety in Canada through the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel will have access to free or discounted English or French language courses, an integral part of successful integration in Canada.

Ukrainians registering for English or French language courses through the MOVA Initiative will be matched by local volunteers from the Global Shapers Community with participating accredited member institutions offering free or discounted English or French language courses, advanced academic pathway programs, places in diploma and certificate programs, as well as summer ESL or FSL classes for children.

Registration forms are available in Ukrainian, English, and French on the Languages Canada website: https://www.languagescanada.ca/en/languages-canada-ukraine-initiative.

About Languages Canada

Languages Canada is a national non-profit representing Canada’s premier English and French language programs dedicated primarily to welcoming students and professionals. Our members welcome thousands of students on an annual basis (i.e., 150,000 students in 2019), many of whom continue to university and college studies, become part of the Canadian labour force, and make Canada their home.

About the Global Shapers Community

An initiative of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of young professionals under the age of 30 driving dialogue, action, and change. With more than 7,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans over 170 countries with nearly 400 hubs around the world.
